Music

Maggie’s journey in music began when she was 4 years old, with her first lessons in piano. She completed her studies through the Royal Conservatory of Music, finishing with a diploma in piano performance at age 12. Seven years later, she is the youngest Canadian composer to be published in the national Royal Conservatory of Music curriculum. Currently, she is most active in the compositional realm, where her original music has been heard by over half a million people. Her work has been described by industry-leading musicians as “incredible” and “outstanding”, and was most recently chosen as a winner in the In A Different World composition competition. Maggie was also honored to be featured at the national 2019 Congress for the Humanities, the Sonic Boom music festival, and twice at the West Coast Composers Symposium by the age of 17. She is happy to produce music for clients, and is presently completing a film soundtrack (original score and sound design) as well as a concert piece commissioned by the UBC Chan Centre for the Performing Arts.

Art

Creating art has been an integral part of Maggie’s life since she could hold a pencil. At 9 years old, she was featured by the international Get to Know Contest for visual art, and at 17 years old won the competition. Recently, she was awarded the British Columbia Achievement Scholarship and District Authority Scholarship for outstanding accomplishment in the Arts, and was awarded at the 7th World Cup Live Painting awards at 16. Maggie utilizes a wide range of media, comprising acrylics, pencils, watercolour, and oils. Her paintings and drawings have been sold to clients across the globe, including the United States, Belgium, Australia, the Czech Republic, and the United Kingdom.

Currently available works can be purchased by inquiry through the contact page, while prints of her art are sold at the Shop.

Writing and Photography

Having a passion for writing since a young age, Maggie’s work was first published by Polar Expressions at the age of 11. The same year, she was honoured to be a winner of an international competition for her poetry; most recently, her work was the First Place winner of the 2020 Young Adult Writing Contest. In addition to creative literature, she engages in non-fiction and academic writing, receiving Bronze in the Queen’s Commonwealth Essay Competition. She has also contributed to The Ubyssey, Canada’s largest student-run newspaper. Her interest in the arts extends to photography, where her photograph Crystalline – taken at age 14 – was selected for international exhibition at Somerset House, London, UK, and commended by the World Photography Organisation and the Sony Photography Awards.
