Maggie Lu is a 24-year old, award-winning Canadian composer and pianist whose music has reached audiences around the world. As a teenager, she became the youngest composer in Canadian history whose original music was selected to be published in the Royal Conservatory of Music’s national curriculum. Her work has reached more than half a million people, and has been described as “incredible” by internationally celebrated classical duo TwoSet Violin.

At age 14, she began her Bachelor’s Degree, studying with JUNO Award-winning faculty at the University of British Columbia. She entered her Master’s program at 16, and by age 17, her compositions had been selected for presentation at the 2019 Congress of the Humanities, the Sonic Boom music festival, and twice at the West Coast Composers Symposium.

Maggie’s music has been commissioned by institutions including the Royal Canadian Navy Band and the University of British Columbia, and performed internationally at European conservatories, across Canada in piano examinations and concert settings, and at major cultural events, including Canada’s largest Lunar New Year parade. Maggie continues to explore a diverse range of genres, from concert works to film music, while welcoming opportunities to create original compositions for individual clients and artistic collaborators.
